“Relaxation & Relief”
Following my first 5K run at the Earth Day Run in Boulder on April 20, 2008, I experienced severe tenderness at the inner side of my left knee. I went to see Michael Young as an exchange for massage therapy. He introduced me to the vital concept of returning muscles to their normal at-rest length. Most people have muscles that have tightened and need to be stretched and restored to a more flexible state; this will relieve acute and chronic discomfort. I am incorporating assisted isolated stretching based on the work of Aaron Mattes and expanded by Jim & Phil Wharton in their book “Stretch Book” and by Robert McAtee & Jeff Charland in their book “Facilitated Stretching”, and developed by Michael Young as the “Muscle Release Technique”.
