Reflexology, Integrated Reflexology
“Relaxation & Relief”
Based on the studies of zone therapy for the body by Doctor William Fitzgerald (developed further by Eunice Ingham for the hands and feet) and for the ears by Doctor Paul Nogier (further refined by Chinese doctors), reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to other parts of the body. This modality involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate the body’s systems, organs, and muscles and restore balance and normal functioning. This technique is used to increase relaxation, reduce pain, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymph. It is especially useful in stress-related illness and emotional disorders. Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is traumatized or diseased to the extent that direct manipulation is not appropriate.
Bill Flocco of the American Academy of Reflexology states that each system (feet, hands, and ears) has its strengths and benefits and working all three systems appears to be more effective than working on one system alone!
